asobi is a six-member band that creates a unique crossover sound, with three MCs at the front.
 
The members met through a club at Waseda University and reunited after graduation to form the band. The lineup consists of three MCs, a guitarist, a bassist, and a trackmaker/DJ. The band name,“asobi”(遊び), comes from the Japanese word meaning “play” or “having fun”. “They initially started their activities as a casual creative outlet on their days off, which inspired the name.
 
In June 2020, they released their first three-track single, “asobi”, named after the band itself. Following this, their June 2021 single “Daisy” and February 2022 single “On Repeat” were both selected as J-WAVE SONAR TRAX―a program by J-WAVE (81.3FM) that highlights must-hear emerging artists. Being selected twice in a single year was a remarkable achievement. In December 2022, they released “Glitter” under Universal Sigma, a song that reaffirms the band’s essence with themes of “brilliance” and “sparkle”. Fully kicking into gear in 2024, their February single “All In My Head” received heavy rotation on multiple radio stations. In January 2025, they released their first full-length album, “JUNCTION”, which includes “Hurts So Good”, the commercial song for Yamazaki Jitsugyo’s tower series. To support the album, they embarked on a headlining tour in Tokyo and Osaka, with their Tokyo show at Shibuya WWW selling out.
 
asobi’s expanding fanbase is drawn to their distinctive sound, where intricate lyricism by the three MCs intertwines with tracks and live instrumentation, blending layers of sonic craftsmanship that only they can produce.
