Originally released to widespread popularity on PlayStation®4 in 2016 and PC (Steam) in 2018, the Touhou Project fan game “Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity” is now set to launch on Nintendo Switch™ on September 4, 2025.
About “Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity”
“Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity” is a fan-made game based on the Touhou Project, characterized by its easy-to-learn, responsive controls in a 3D danmaku action RPG format.
- Synopsis
The story follows the vampire Remilia, mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and her maid, Sakuya. Bored with their tedious daily lives, Remilia becomes intrigued by rumors of a mysterious, giant monster of unknown shape and origin that has been the talk of the human village. After learning that the creature has appeared at the nearby Misty Lake, the two begin their search, only to find that a major incident is unfolding back at the Scarlet Devil Mansion… - A Tale Woven by Two Protagonists: Remilia and Sakuya
Players can choose to progress through the game as either Remilia or Sakuya. Remilia is a power type with high single-hit damage, while Sakuya is a technical type who excels at racking up combo hits. The choice is up to the player! The game features simple 5-button controls for attack, jump, and three skills. As you level up, you can learn a variety of skills to assign to your buttons and advance through the game.
The game is further enhanced by a 35-track BGM composed by the music circle “Hachimitsu Lemon,” known for their many Touhou arrangements.
- Rack Up Hits to Gain an Advantage!
As you continuously land attacks, your hit count increases, granting a bonus to your attack power and experience points. However, the hit count will reset if you take damage or if a certain amount of time passes. - Collect Equipment to Power Up!
Even equipment with the same name will have different stats. Collect various pieces and switch to more powerful gear to press forward! Some equipment may even grant the use of special skills.
